Quadrant 4: Visits By Source
Posted by Travis on December 12th, 2005Perhaps the most important section of the overview report, this pie chart tells you how your site is performing in the areas of search-engine optimization, obtaining click-throughs from relevant sites, and other sources of visitors.

Quick Tip:
While the “Show all” and “Hide all” buttons do not appear on this quadrant, you can hide/show the corresponding % of visitors to any section of the pie chart by clicking on its colored “slice.”
Interpretation
- As you can see here, the site in this example is drawing nearly 50% of its visitors from Google searches.
- Only about 8% of visitors come from directly typing in the URL (or using a bookmark), and one site, ReefSanctuary.com, is sending more visitors than any other site. The rest are probably listed under “other”
Definitions
- A Source is the place a visitor came from on the Internet. Sources will include search engines, other sites, and “direct” (see below)
- Direct visits come from either typing in the URL, or using a bookmark on the visitor’s browser.
