Here’s a feature you may not have known about- Google Analytics allows you to track an email campaign’s performance, including:
- Impressions (someone opening the email)
- Click-throughs (clicking the URL from your email)
- Conversions (Whatever you have defined)
Not just for spammers
To me, this is probably an underused tool. Consider adding the code to any “email to a friend” functionality on your site, for example- you can then track your emails’ viral performance, identify what works best and optimize your email templates.
As with all analytics, once you’ve got the information to work with, new ideas will spring forth.
